Maths and English are vital life skills and here at Hobson & Porter, as part of our vision and values, we recognise this and want to play our part in skills development for the future.
With this in mind, we’ve teamed up with the ‘Run With It’ charity, which is an educational centre based at the KCOM Stadium in Hull, which specialises in raising the levels of both literacy and numeracy.
We’ve sponsored a school’s learning day, which involves 15 pupils visiting the stadium and seeing how maths and English can be used in a real-life setting. We’re also supporting some of the maths’ programmes with the aid of some of our technology to help enhance the learners’ experience.
Dave Blades, Director at Hobson & Porter, said: “You can’t underestimate the importance of having skills in both literacy and numeracy and the impact it can have on all aspects of your life. It isn’t just about totting up the bill at a restaurant; these are skills which are vital in nearly every area of work.
It’s certainly two skills our staff need and use on a daily basis and we hope our work with ‘Run With It’ will prove both helpful and inspirational to school children about its importance.”
